Our Religious School

The mission of Congregation Tikvoh Chadoshoh's Religious School is to foster pride in our young people's Jewish identity and to encourage a feeling of love for their heritage.  Our Religious School also deepens Jewish experience by strengthening faith in God, knowledge of Torah and Israel, and identification with the Jewish people. We actively promote students and their families to become active participants in the Tikvoh Chadoshoh community and all its activities so that their feeling for Judaism will continue through future generations.  Tikvoh is also proud to boast its Tikvoh Teens program for students beyond grade seven.  These students support our religious school by working in the classrooms assisting teachers or tutoring struggling youngsters.  They also support our community by participating in various acts of charity such as spending time with the elderly at the Hebrew Home.  It's a unique opportunity for our teens to learn the value and joy in helping our community.

Religous School Hours

  • Sunday mornings,  9:30 - 12:00, grades K-7
  • Tuesday afternoons, 4:00 - 6:00, grades 3-7.

For a limited time we are accepting unaffiliated families into our religious school without requiring synagogue membership. Please contact the office at 860-243-3576 for more information.

Our Religious School Principal

May Zamachek has served as Principal of Tikvoh's religous school for twelve years.  As an educator in the Canton Public Schools, she brings a wealth of educational skills and experience to our students along with her one-of-a-kind blend of energy, excitement, and passion for children and religious education.  Mrs. Z's success as Tikvoh's Principal is evident in the joy and camaraderie which our students share throughout their years at Tikvoh, as well as in their unusual success as B'nai Mitzvah.
